Removal of ESIM card in phone that got wet?

I stupidly jumped in a river briefly (maybe a few min) with my iPhone in my pocket. Removed the case and screen protector and turned off. My phone does not have a physical SIM card. What other precautions should I take while it dries out? Are phones with ESIM cards backed up in the cloud/?

Crossing my fingers it’s ok

An eSIM is not removable.

For what Apple recommends doing, see What should I do if my iPhone gets wet? here: About splash, water, and dust resistance of iPhone 7 and later - Apple Support

Rice is not recommended.

Give the phone two full days to dry out. It will help drain any water out if you can lean the phone against a wall or other surface so the charging port is at the bottom.

An eSIM is software......not a hardware card that can be removed.

Do NOT put the phone in rice.

The phone is not backed up to iCloud unless you previously set things up so that backups would occur automatically.

After the drying period, check and see if the phone will power up normally.
