Why replace keyboard when you only need a battery on MacBook Pro

I have replaced many batteries on MacBooks over the years for family and friends..usually getting an aftermarket battery for about $40. The adhesive has never been an issue and never used acetone. My daughter wanted to just get her 2014 Macbook Pro 13 inch a new battery when hers finally quit. So she first brought to a Apple Store to assess and repair. They said it was too old for them to repair, and referred her to a local service provider. They said it would be $250 and it needed a battery and a keyboard, not because anything was wrong with the keyboard, but that Apple just does it that way so they have to too. This is because they don't want to deal with the adhesive. Such a waste of resources and time. It takes about 5 times more work to remove all components to get to the keyboard, and so silly since it only needs a battery. I had never heard that Apple recommends that. No one else does, not Ifixit, or the many videos on doing the battery replacement on YouTube. It's nuts to replace the keyboard to just get a new battery...So I fixed my daughter's MacbookPro, replacing the battery in about 20 minutes. Does anyone in this community ever do that or hear of doing that. Just curious.

Getting a New Battery:

I haven't replaced a battery on my Macs for a bit, but being an obsolete device, Apple would only service it for so long. So, as for the service provider, they are referring to an AASP (Apple Authorized Service Provider):

Contacting an AASP:

  1. Go Here: Find Locations - Apple Authorized Reseller
  2. Click: Service & Support
  3. Enter: your location information
  4. See: if there is an AASP nearby
  5. Contact: an AASP that shows up, and find out more about the services that they offer to fix the Battery
