How to stop iphone audio from connecting with wifi/bt air conditioner?

I use my phone as a remote for my AC. Every time I leave my home and return, my iphone audio automatically connects to my Wifi BT air conditioner, even if it is already playing either via the phone itself, or my AirPod Pros. My AC is not a speaker.

How do I stop this from happening without having to forget my AC?

iPhone 15 Pro Max, iOS 17

I’ll here assume Bluetooth and not Wi-Fi.

That seems like the AC is doing something weird with its Bluetooth implementation. Wrong, even.

The AC can and does and should connect to the iPhone, but should not show as audio. Not unless it offers audio.

There’s an app that can scan Bluetooth, which might help identify the details of that AC Bluetooth connection, LightBlue. It’ll need to pair with the AC to report on its configuration, and the app displays are intended for Bluetooth troubleshooting and not for generic usage. They’re cryptic.

If the AC is presenting itself as a Bluetooth audio device (as shown by LightBlue or otherwise), you’ll need to discuss that with the AC vendor.
