i could not work out how to turn off Apple music off . So i removed it .

I don't know how you've "removed it", but I doubt that will sort things out. You need to unsubscribe.

You can unsubscribe by visiting unsubscribe from Apple Music. Basically, visit that page and then:

    1. sign into your account. If you don't see that button, I believe that means that you are already signed in
    2. tap or click the account icon (a small person icon in red)
    3. Choose Settings
    4. Scroll to Subscriptions and choose Manage
    5. Choose Cancel Subscription

The link provides full information, including what steps to take if you are unable to cancel your subscription.

i tried placing my cd folder/files into iTunes folder
C/users/user/music/iTunes/iTunes media.
with no success.

Until you cancel Apple Music, it won't and if you've moved the files as well, that will cause bigger issues.

I asked whether you could see the music files on your computer and gave steps on how to find them. If you found the files but have now moved them to a new location, that will now cause further issues once you unsubscribe from Apple Music. (Basically, once you end your subscription, iTunes will look in the location it thinks your music files are stored (i.e. the same place as before), so if you've moved them, iTunes won't know where the files are now.

Put the files back where they were and then follow the steps to unsubscribe from Apple Music. Once you've done that, if iTunes still doesn't see your music, we can then go from that point.

your suggesting if apple music app was turned off ? iTunes would show my music cd collection and play lists ?

Yes.

But sure apple music deleted my music . It is no longer in the folder .

It depends what you mean by "folder". I've seen many people refer to entries in iTunes as being "in a folder", but all iTunes does is list what is in the folders seen in Windows Explorer.

Open File Explorer on your computer (also known as File Manager, or Windows Explorer). Look in the Music folder and you should see a folder named either iTunes Music or iTunes Media: (On my computer, almost everything is in the iTunes Music folder, but more recent versions of iTunes will have created an iTunes Media folder. I have both). Are there any artist folders containing music files in those folders (they may be in yet more sub-folders)? If so, that's where your music is located:

The screenshot above shows my iTunes Music folder, with a list of artists, as sub-folders. If I look in the Alisha's Attic folder I see a list of the band's albums:

and in the Illumina sub-folder, I see the files for all the tracks on the Illumina album:

Once you turn off Apple Music, iTunes should display your music library.

1) Hopefully you have a backup.

2) Try using the import command in iTunes under file menu to bring in your CDs where they are located.

If you upgraded to a different version of iTunes, it may need to process through them again to generate your library file.

Good luck.

BTW - Apple has changed the name of iTunes app into the Music App on new Macs. Confusing isn't it.

To be precise, it's more than a name change, Apple has discontinued iTunes on newer Mac. But iTunes is still (for the moment) available and usable on Windows PCs and until the OP says that he/she is using the Apple Music app as well as the Apple Devices app (the Windows replacements for iTunes), I'm going to assume that we are still talking about iTunes.

Confusing isn't it.

Yes. Not for the first time.

Very for me 🙄😞

decided to move away from apple iTunes and apple music . I will purchase another software program that will work with both formats windows & iso.

use widows Medea player and a third party program that will do all transfers / backups of all file types between the each format.

thanks for your assistance and all your suggestions. It all helped me to understand the issues with apples software changes . I was quite happy with the older iTunes version i was using . Apple forced updates on me that i didn't want.

thanks again
