Can you have two passwords tied to the same Apple ID?

I thought one couldn't but I find I can log in here with two different passwords and the same Apple ID. I am having a problem with synching my desktop at work with my iPhone and my home MB Air. For example, when I edit, delete, or add a contact on the desktop, it synchs with the phone & laptop. But when I edit, delete, or add a contact on the phone or laptop, it does not show up on the desktop. Is it possible that the two password situation is causing the problem?

Do I have 1 Apple ID, with one password f… - Apple Community

" You can have a login password for each Mac that is different but there is only one password for each Apple ID.

re: "I ended up using a different login on each one..." I'm not sure what you mean by that. If you mean a second different Apple ID, that is possible. If you mean a different password for the same Apple ID, where did you get the second password from -- you can't have two that are valid at the same time? "

Ok at least this aspect can be eliminated

Not sure this will help

Recently added a New iPhone as a Trade In for the Older iPhone 14

Needless to say the Older iPhone was Prepped for Trade In using Log Out of " Find My " and then " Erase All Content "

Popped the SIM from Old to New, thinking all was good

How wrong I was

My Apple ID Password, REQUIRED by Apple, Had to be changed

To that end, I still have 1 Apple ID Account , with Apple, and only 1 Apple ID Account Passwords

Logging into these Forums, requires the Administrator Account Password of the Computer ( there is only 1 Admin Account on this machine - my choice )

Thanks for your swift reply.

Yes, I know a different login is required for each device. But I am talking about the global Apple ID that one uses to access this Apple Community forum as well as iCloud and other things. When I want to log in here, I get this:

If I choose "Continue with Password," I use a previous Apple ID password and I log in. But if I choose "Use a different Apple ID," I get this:

See, it has the same handle, but it does not accept the password I used to login in the first screen; it accepts a more recent password, created a few months ago, and logs me into the same user area. They shouldn't both work! But they do! The same situation obtains when I log into iCloud. Extremely confusing but I can live with it. My primary problem at the moment is that when I add, edit, or delete a contact or reminder on my phone or laptop, I want those changes reflected on my desktop, which currently they aren't nor do they appear in iCloud, although, as I wrote in my OP, the reverse does work; when I add, edit, or delete on the desktop, the changes do appear in iCloud, and my other devices. Makes my head spin!

User wrote and this maybe significant in this setup

" I am having a problem with synching my desktop at work "

If and only if I read between the lines correctly

Desktop at work could mean a Computer that is a Managed Computer or part of an MDM Service

That is an area I know about by name only and and zero on-hand experience with

Perhaps my colleague can take the Major Role at this time
