Messaging Notifications

When I receive a text message it used to show the contact name or phone number and then say either iMessage or text message. Now it just says Messages and Notification. I always have my Lock Screen Preview set to Never and it would still show the contact name and iMessage or text message and now it will only show if I have that set to Always, which I do not want. I did reset my settings and it went back to normal for about a week and then went right back to how I don’t want it. I have a 15 Pro and I’m running the most current software.

It sounds like your iPhone settings may need some adjustments to get back to the behavior you prefer. Let's go through a few steps to troubleshoot and potentially fix the issue:

1. Check Notifications Settings

Ensure your notification settings for Messages are properly configured.

Open the Settings app.

Scroll down and tap on "Notifications.

Tap on "Messages."

Make sure that "Allow Notifications" is turned on.

Under "Alerts," check that notifications are enabled for the Lock Screen, Notification Center, and Banners

Scroll down and make sure "Show Previews" is set to "When Unlocked" or "Never" according to your preference.

2. Check Messages Settings

Verify your settings within the Messages app.

Open the Settings app.

Scroll down and tap on "Messages."

Check that "iMessage" is turned on.

Scroll down to "Notifications" and ensure settings are configured correctly.

Reset All Settings

Since resetting settings previously helped, you might try this again. This won’t delete your data, but it will reset system settings like Wi-Fi passwords and wallpapers.

Open the Settings app.

Tap on "General."

Scroll down and tap on "Transfer or Reset iPhone."

Tap on "Reset."

Select "Reset All Settings" and confirm.

4. Software Update

Ensure your iPhone is running the latest iOS version.

Open the Settings app.

Tap on "General."

Tap on "Software Update" to check for any available updates.

Contact Apple Support

If the issue persists, it might be worth contacting Apple Support as there could be a bug or specific issue with your device.

Following these steps should help you restore the notification behavior you prefer on your iPhone.
