Replacement for Camera+ 2 app?

I have used Camera+ almost since it came out 14 years ago and it has been my preferred camera app. But since last fall, apparently after an update of some sort, it no longer works if you are away from WiFi, and doesn't pick up on cellular, either. (And why should it even require a wireless signal at all?) The app is useless when I'm out in the field.

I discovered I'm not alone. The maker of Camera+ 2 has moved to an "update by paid subscription" model and has also seemingly dropped support in favor of a new app called Photon Camera ... but it's a subscription app. So, I'm ready to call it quits with them.

Looking for recommendations on a replacement for Camera+ 2.

Does anyone recommend Halide Mark II or ProCamera? What else might I consider?
