Iphone 14 Pro iOS 17.5.1 Contacts app causes rapid battery drain

Settings - Battery indicates that Contacts causes a rapid battery drain when working in the background. >50% battery is used by Contacts even though contacts is only used in the background.

I have turned off Cellular Data for contacts, and also "learn from this App" in Siri and Search.

This issue started occurring 3 or 4 days ago and I have not notices it earlier.

It appears there have been similar drain issues reported in the past, but I did not find anything closely related.
