wifi shows as connected but disappears, only using cellular data

iPhone 14 Pro Max, iOS 17.5.1

WiFi is connected and working on iPads and Mac. Shows as Connected in Settings, WiFi. Three full bars symbol show WiFi is connected at top of screen. The symbol disappears, and the phone reverts to use Cellular data. But settings still show WiFi is connected. Toggling WiFi off and

on solves this temporarily, then WiFi symbol disappears again. my iPhone stops

using my auto connected home network again and again

That happens because you have the “wifi assist” option enabled . Go to your settings app, go to “celular” then scroll down to the bottom and you will see a setting called “Wi-Fi Assist” turn that off

I would have never found that without your help, thanks. Absolutely nothing in the User Guide helped. No search helped. Only the community seems to solve these Apple

gifts we so enjoy.
