Macbook Pro Backspace Acts Like It Keeps Getting Pressed Glitch (Software Issue?)

I have a Macbook Pro 14in 2021 with apple M1 Pro chip and MacOS Sonoma 14.5. Recently, every so often it acts like the backspace key is constantly getting pressed. It gets annoying as I have to keep pressing the down or right button to stop it temporarily, and then it acts up again.

There is nothing wrong with the actual hardware of the keyboard because I tested it using another bluetooth keyboard, disabled the internal keyboard, yet it still happens. My guess is that there is some software issue rather than the hardware? What steps can I take to try to resolve this and what could be the potential issue?

MacBook Pro 14″, macOS 14.5

To trouble shoot your built-in keyboard you can:

—A SafeBoot Use safe mode on your Mac - Apple Support will sort many anomalies

Does a quick disk repair before it fully boots up, and certain system caches get cleared and rebuilt, third party system modifications and system accelerations are disabled temporarily.

Login and test. Reboot as normal and test. Caches get rebuilt automatically.

This test will tell you if third party interference; most extensions etc are not loaded in safe boot mode.

—Test issue in another user (or guest user) account Change Users & Groups settings on Mac - Apple Support

This will tell you if it a universal issue or isolated to your user/admin account.

unplug all non-essential peripherals when testing

Uninstall all third party apps that are Cleaners/Optimizers/VPN/Anti-Virus

all known to cause issues on the macOS
