How to fix MacBook Pro not connecting to the internet?

I have a brand new MacBook Pro. I did not use it for a week came home turned it on and it went to August 2020 and I no longer get onto the Internet. Has anybody had issues with this?

Yes, exactly.


system preferences > Date&Time ...


set it by your watch, microwave, or phone.


check that your time zone is set correctly while you are there.


Once it is adjusted properly, you can check the box to set time&date automatically.

The two symptoms you describe are the same source: You let the battery go flat, and it lost track of time. Don't do that, it shortens battery longevity.


To make a secure connection, which is nearly ANY connection today, the Time used on your computer must be within five minutes of Internet time. So the computer time and time zone must be correct within five minutes.
