Apple Air Max is making weird static sound

So, I received my Apple Air Max's yesterday and after literally 1 wear they started making a weird static sound in the left ear piece.

I have tried to reset them, taking the cushions out and the noise only stops when I put the noise cancelling on and off 3 times. I can’t even listen to my music because the sound is so loud.😐

It’s really weird and I want to find a solution to fix them (especially since I haven’t even had them for 24 hours).

Does anyone have any suggestions to fix this?

No, I would take yours back right now! They should be covered under your warranty. Mine was up, but it was an extended replacement program because they knew there were ones made during a certain time that were defective. I didn’t use mine much until the last few months, just never really had a need. They were bought for me as a gift. Since I’ve been using them more consistently I started experiencing what you’re describing. I googled it and found the following on support.apple.com. This is copied directly from their page:

AirPods Pro Service Program for Sound Issues

Apple has determined that a small percentage of AirPods Pro may experience sound issues. Affected units were manufactured before October 2020.

An affected AirPods Pro may exhibit one or more of the following behaviors:

  • Crackling or static sounds that increase in loud environments, with exercise or while talking on the phone
  • Active Noise Cancellation not working as expected, such as a loss of bass sound, or an increase in background sounds, such as street or airplane noise

Apple or an Apple Authorized Service Provider will service the affected AirPods Pro (left, right or both), free of charge.

Note: No other AirPods models are part of this program

Service Process

Choose one of the service options below to have your AirPods Pro serviced. Your AirPods Pro will be examined prior to any service to verify that they are eligible for this program. AirPods Pro (left, right or both) with a confirmed issue will be replaced. The AirPods Pro case is not affected and will not be replaced.

Additional Information

This worldwide Apple program doesn't extend the standard warranty coverage of the AirPods Pro.

The program covers affected AirPods Pro for 3 years after the first retail sale of the unit.

If you have already reset your AirPods Max, there may be an issue with the AirPods Max or companion device. Contact Apple Support for further assistance.

I just found out my air pod pros were known by Apple to be defective with this same issue and they never notified the consumers. I’ve had them since 2020 & never used them much until the last few months and that’s when I started to hear this noise. It’s become more frequent, so I googled it and found out mine were part of the ones that were put under and “extended replacement program”, but only for 3 years! So ofc I was told today I’m outside the replacement extension even though they admittedly knew they were the cause of the defect themselves! I did nothing to cause this nor could I have done anything to avoid it because it is a manufacture defect! If you make a product & you know it’s defective, you should replace it at no cost to the consumer if you admitted their product was part of the ones that were discovered to be defective! As expensive as they are and to not stand behind your product is horrible business! I will never buy another product from Apple.
