Apple ID is wrong

Trying to update apps on iPhone 14 Plus but the Apple ID that is asking for my password, is not correct. I changed my Apple ID quite some time ago, it was working fine and now it’s back to asking me for my iCloud password again instead of the current Apple ID.

iPhone 14 Plus, iOS 17

Apps are FOREVER tied to the Apple they were downloaded under. This is a great example of why it's NEVER a good idea to change your Apple ID. Change the Password for your ID is fine. Changing your Apple ID causes issues just like you're experiencing.

You have two options:

  1. Sign out of your current Apple ID and sign back in under the old Apple ID every time you want to update those apps
  2. Or, delete the apps and repurchase/download them under the new Apple ID, so you won't have an issue updating them going forward
