Red dot on phone icon

I have a constant red dot on the phone icon on my iPhone SE. No missed calls, no voice mail messages. Can I make it go away?

Here are some steps that may help.

  1. Open the Phone app. Tap the Recents tab. With All selected at the top, scroll all the way to the bottom. Then, with Missed selected at the top, scroll all the way to the bottom.
  2. Open the Phone app. Tap the Voicemail tab. Select Edit, select all of the voicemails with a blue dot next to them, and select Mark As Read.
  3. Back up your iPhone.
  4. Restart your iPhone.
  5. Update iOS on your iPhone.
  6. Reset all settings.

If the issue persists, you can open the Settings > Notifications > Phone and toggle off Badges. Alternatively, you can erase your iPhone and set it up as new.
