  1. What is your audio setup? Do you use the TV’s built-in speakers, or something else?
  2. The Siri Remote can send IR signals directly (not through the Apple TV box) to the TV or audio system — different from navigation, which uses Bluetooth to the Apple TV box. So check for an open line-of-sight from the remote to the IR receptor.
  3. Select supported AV receivers may offer volume control over HDMI-CEC. Notably, this wouldn't be available to TV speakers, as TVs typically do not support this audio control function through CEC.
  4. Users may restart just the remote, to see if that regains volume control. If the volume buttons on your Apple TV remote aren't working - Apple Support
  5. If the automatic (IR) volume control settings do not work for you, then consider manually adjusting that. Settings﹥Remotes and Devices﹥Volume Control﹥… [choose from options]
  6. The software remote on iPhone or iPad isn’t compatible with volume control through IR, as an iPhone or iPad isn’t capable of sending IR signals.
