My Apple ID old Email still appears even after updating it in the Apple ID account

This is my very first post and I am somewhat of a rookie. I am using an iPhone 15 and needed to change my Apple ID e-mail address. I searched for help and the web said to go to settings, my name, sign in and security and edit the e-mail which I did. However the old e-mail still appears. I tried a restart of my phone. Find My phone got turned off (I have since turned it back on). E-mail below is no longer in service. How do I change this? Please help the rookie. Thanks in advance!

If you got through step 6 in Change your Apple ID - Apple Support and clicked "Continue" and no code was received (and you checked spam etc in your email service to see if the email was there), I would start over and try again. If the same thing happens, Contact - Official Apple Support

Want to say thanks again. I contacted Apple Support and they walked me through some things to check, i message etc. Then they assured me that everything was fine and the ild e-mail will change to the new e-mail in 24 hours.

Thanks for your response. Those are the steps I followed, except I didn’t get a code to enter and the old e-mail is still showing. That’s where I run into a dead end. I tried to log out and I got a message to I was going to lose information.
