iMac locked at start up

It's an old iMac. When I power off/power on, it shows a locked screen to enter password.

I'd like to re-install OS, but I can't get past the Lock Screen.

Any help appreciated!

If your Mac doesn't start up all the way - Apple Support

Your iMac is firmware locked, you need to input the firmware password you used. If you no longer have it, your next stop is a trip to your local Apple Store or Apple Authorized Service Provider with a proof of purchase.
