Why won't my AirPods Pro connect outside the charging case?

so i’ve been having this weird problem with my airpods pro, where they wont connect when i take them out of the charging case, but they do connect if they’re in the charging case. i tried resetting them but it didn’t work and im wondering how i could solve this

Try and reset them to see if the issues persist

AirPods (all generations) or AirPods Pro (all generations): Put the AirPods in their case, close the lid, then wait 30 seconds. Open the lid, then press and hold the setup button on the back of the case for about 15 seconds, until the status light flashes amber, then white.
