'cursoruiviewservice' Not Responding and Causing Lag on MacBook Air

Hello everyone,

I've noticed that the "cursoruiviewservice" process in Activity Monitor is becoming 'not responding' and causing significant lag on my MacBook Air, especially when typing and switching between upper and lower case letters. It appears this process also controls the blue caps lock indicator, which stops working when the process is unresponsive. This issue seems to cause the lag, and currently, it is using about 170MB of RAM.

I'm avoiding restarting my MacBook as I've raised this issue with Apple Support and may need to provide logs again. Additionally, the "com.apple.hiservices-xpcservice" process also becomes unresponsive, though it usually doesn't exceed 3.5MB of RAM.

This seems to be related to an XPC (Cross-Process Communication) error. Some logs also suggest that Microsoft Outlook is not handling the clipboard process correctly.

Has anyone else experienced this issue or found a solution?

Thanks

The 5 hours runtime was from the time the computer was cold booted to the time the Screen Shot was posted

This machine is on and used for at least 12 hours or more per day and every day

The Operating System now, being macO 15.0 Sequoia, is a very lean and mean installation .

Very little to no third party applications installed which do tends to invoke system modifications

It has both the Builtin Safari from Apple as well as Firefox for Apple Silicon computers.

Are you saying that it's not Apple's responsibility if the 3rd party app I downloaded from the App Store causes a system error that prevents me from writing in Apple Pages or Safari? Am I understanding this correctly? If I were to download a third-party app from the App Store and, as a result, Safari wouldn't open, would that be considered normal? By the way, the developer of the 3rd party app in question is Microsoft.

Carefully read the 'How to contact an app developer' article in the link you sent, look at what it says there:

When to contact an app developer for help

If an app isn't working, but the issue doesn't affect other apps.

The links and explanations you sent have nothing to do with our topic. On this forum alone, 75 people have said 'me too,' and there are 35 replies. There's a serious lag occurring on the computers.

Users who aren't experiencing lag or 'not responding' issues having a simple `CursorUIViewService` process taking up 1.5 GB is already not normal in itself.

Any Third Party Applications that will interfere with the normal operation of the OS,  is an invitation for disaster.

Certain Third Party Applications maybe available on the Apple Apps Store - this only means the Developer is prepared to pay Apple a percentage on each sale.

What the Third Party Application may do to the computer is up to the User to check this out before purchase.

Due diligence, on the part of the User, is always suggested

It looks like there’s a misunderstanding. Simply having an app on the App Store does not mean Apple automatically takes a cut. For free apps, like many on the store, Apple doesn’t take any percentage. Apple only charges a fee on paid apps or in-app purchases.

The claim that being on the App Store only means Apple takes a percentage is completely incorrect.

Developers use the App Store for more than just revenue sharing, it offers better security with sandboxing, trusted app distribution, and broader access to users. It’s about providing a secure and convenient experience, not just revenue.

Please don't confuse the users.
