iPhone files displayed on mac

I hooked my iPhone up to my Mac by USB c (all up to date software) and want to be able to through my phone files on the Mac. The best I can do is see the apps I have and the files saved under those apps. I can't find the files folder or the downloaded folder. Can this be done? TYIA

No, it can’t be done. It’s a security feature of iOS; the file system is not accessible outside of the iPhone. In fact, there is no traditional “file system” at all; each app “owns” the data for that app, and other apps or devices can’t access an app's data without explicit permission settings.
