Read Receipts - Is there such a thing on IMAC?

For messages sent solely within the confines of a particular organization’s own mail server, read receipts might be configured by the IT staff. But read receipt requests almost certainly wont be honored for incoming external mail.

On the rest of ‘net, nobody supports or configures read receipts, because they’re just massive fodder for spam and advertisers.

Spammers and advertisers and scammers would love love love read receipts.

Include in your email that you want the recipient to send you a read receipt. Forcing a recipient to automatically send a read receipt to an email sender is insecure. Think of what a valuable capability that would be to phishers and scammers.

FWIW, if I received an email from you that forced a read receipt, that would be the last email I ever accepted from you.

It is 2024, recipients have control over their email.
