How to resolve slow CD burning and bug issues in iTunes?

In the last two versions, I noticed that when burning a CD, it not only takes very long (usually takes only a minute and a half at the burn speed I have set), but the indicator showing how far the burn is is very buggy. Typically, it'll show "Writing Song 1" then show "Writing Song 2" and so on, however, when it reaches the last track, it'll go back to saying "Writing Song 6" or "7" and continue to the last track and repeat this, like, ten times until the burn actually finishes.

The reason why I want to keep using iTunes to burn CDs is because I listen to a lot of music that the songs go into the next song without stopping and iTunes has that Gapless Burn feature that Windows Media Player does not and USB readers have a large two-second gap between tracks.

Can y'all fix this? I know it's the latest versions because I have uninstalled and reinstalled older versions and they work right. I have to use the latest version, though, because you can't connect to the store or purchase music with older versions.
