Will an Apple Watch Ultra 2 purchased in Japan work in the UK without any issues?

I'm looking at buying the new Apple Watch Ultra 2 from Japan but I live in the UK.

Will this work with no issues or restrictions back in the UK and Europe?

No, all restrictions that are required by law in Japan, will still be active in any other country, since the restrictions are part of the country specific watchOS, which can not be changed.

Also, if you buy an Apple Watch abroad, these devices are supposed to be used in the country of purchase, due to the different built in hardware, that has to support local carriers, especially if it comes to LTE.

So make sure that your carrier in the UK supports this model and all its features.

Remember, that the warranty for an Apple Watch can be restricted by Apple to the country of purchase.

In case of a warranty claim, you will have to bring the watch back to the country of purchase, Apple Support does not ship internationally.

Could you elucidate on that statement please? AFAIK, watchOS updates for an Watch are not about the country where that watch was originally purchased, but about where the watch installs an update. Once he has the watch bought in Japan in the Uk, if he updates the watch in the UK, he will get the UK update.

For example, many folks who bought an Watch in the US with functioning ECG, found that if they took that watch to a country whose medical device authority had not approved the ECG function, the 1st time they updated watchOS in that country, ECG ceased to function.

M1 Mac mini, macOS 14.5;  Watch, series 7 GPS/cellular, watchOS 10.5; iPhone 12 Pro, iOS 17.5; TV 4th Gen, tvOS 17.5; HomePods, audioOS 17.5 and Airport Express w/ Airplay 2
