Is it okay for me to store my Apple Pencil in an iPad case with a built in slot for it?

Hi, is it okay for me to store my apple pencil in an ipad case with a built in slot for it? However the slot is on the other side to where my pencil charges so i have to remove the case in order to charge. Or should I use a case which allows my pencil to be docked to the magnetic bit 24/7? I’m worried i’ve wasted money on the wrong case

A case that has to be removed such that you can charge your Apple Pencil will be a constant source of frustration.

It is generally recommended that a second generation Apple Pencil, or Apple Pencil Pro, is kept docked with its host iPad whenever it is not being actively used - as doing so will ensure that the Pencil remains optimally charged.

Zugu makes cases for at least some iPad models that are compatible with Pencil 2 and that has a retaining slot located on the edge of the case where the Pencil 2 will charge.

Here is an example: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B09QH82MQ4

That Zugu case has a second slot available on the side of the case, and that slot does not charge.

Several folks around have variations of that case, and nobody’s had issues with Pencil falling out of the edge slot, given both the slot design and the magnet holding Pencil in place.
