New iPhone is stuck in SOS mode even after updating, transfer, and rebooting

I have a physical SIM card with a service plan that has worked in my previous iPhones (6 plus, 7) for over a year..... Now switching to this new one and making sure its updated properly - my phone is stuck in SOS mode and I need help getting the service reactivated or something before I loose my phone number.... Please HELP & Thank You!!

Your phone is not connected to your carrier's network if SOS is displayed, so you will temporarily need to use another phone to contact your carrier to ask them to restore service to your phone.

I can't help with getting your service reactivated, but for the moment, you could turn on airplane mode. That would turn off SOS. At least your battery's energy would be conserved. Good luck.
