MacBook pro 13 late 2016 end of support date?

Hello,

I am a proud owner of MacBook Pro, late 2016:

Model Name: MacBook Pro

Model Identifier: MacBookPro13,1

Processor Name: Dual-Core Intel Core i7

Processor Speed: 2,4 GHz

Number of Processors: 1

Total Number of Cores: 2

L2 Cache (per Core): 256 KB

L3 Cache: 4 MB

Hyper-Threading Technology: Enabled

Memory: 16 GB / SSD: 1 Tb

System Firmware Version: 529.120.1.0.0

I wonder when Apple will stop providing security updates for it? (I'll probably make a Linux laptop out of it then). I googled and found different dates, some say this autumn ,others say 8 years from 2016, which means this year anyway. But no clear answer whatsoever.

Apple has been providing security releases for the current macOS and the two prior versions (i.e., currently Sonoma, Ventura and Monterey).

A 2016 MacBook Pro cannot upgrade beyond Monterey.

Based on the above history, I suspect that Apple won't be providing security releases for Monterey after the next macOS release which is likely this fall.

Only Apple knows for certain and they typically don't make an announcement about it.
