Some keys of macbook stop working randomly

Hi

Some keys of my macbook stops working randomly. As i noticed this only happens to ~, 1, q, a, z keys. But still i can use these keys if i press them with Fn key.

I do not know what triggers this issue. But it usually goes away when i restart it. This started during the first 2 months after purchase, then i didn't encounter it for last 6,7 months. Now it started again.

Appreciate any help on this.

Thanks

MacBook Pro 14″, macOS 14.5

failing Keys associated on the diagonal like that, typically indicate a hardware issue, however the Fn key throws this analysis off a bit

Do you use more than one Input source? Try making a change

To trouble shoot further you can:

—A SafeBoot Use safe mode on your Mac - Apple Support will sort many anomalies

Does a quick disk repair before it fully boots up, and certain system caches get cleared and rebuilt, third party system modifications and system accelerations are disabled temporarily.

Login and test. Reboot as normal and test. Caches get rebuilt automatically.

This test will tell you if third party interference; most extensions etc are not loaded in safe boot mode.

—Test issue in another user (or guest user) account Change Users & Groups settings on Mac - Apple Support

This will tell you if it a universal issue or isolated to your user/admin account.

unplug all non-essential peripherals when testing

Uninstall all third party apps that are Cleaners/Optimizers/VPN/Anti-Virus

all known to cause issues on the macOS

Hi,

Thank you for the information, It seems there are some settings that could go wrong.

To be on safe side, i handover the device to support (in case of hardware fault). I noticed that warranty was going to end yesterday.

And yes, i was using external keyboard in some occations. But this issue appears suddenly when the other source is not even plugged in - even after full reset.

Lets see what the feedback from support center.
