Why are my Excel file extensions still unrecognized on Mac after transfer?

Transferred files & documents from PC to MAC. Unable to open my EXCEL spreadsheets, I was able to track down my original MS Office 2019 purchase and was able to install it on the Mac. However the EXCEL file extensions (XLSX) still remain 'unrecognized'

Right-click an .xlsx file, choose Get Info, in the field “Open with” select Excel, click “Change All”.
