Excel cannot be open the file 'XXX.xlsx' because the file format or file extension is not valid

I can open this file on my mackbook. But it doesn't open iMac. The file is saved on onedrive and I didn't move it.

I solved the issue after updating Excel to the latest version.

The name doesn' have non-ASCII.

I can't open it when I copied it to local drive or when I opened it directly from onedrive.

What version of macOS?

Does the file name contain non-ASCII characters?

Does it open if you copy it to a local folder?

Try saving a copy under a different name?
