App Store Missing after iOS 17.5.1 Update

After Installing iOS 17.5.1 the App Store will not load onto my device (iPhone 14 Plus).

I have Screen Time settings that prevent In App purchases, Deleting of Apps, & automatic install / update of apps. I’ve had this as a standard setting for years.

When I wish to add or modify an App I simply toggle the appropriate setting under Screen Time and the App Store appears and would functions.

Since installing iOS 17.5.1, when I toggle the Screen Time settings to enable the App Store I see the icon for the App Store momentarily appear on my screen and then immediately disappear.

I’ve read similar bugs where users have been unable to update their apps after 17.5.1; but they have had their App Store app available.

It seems that for those of us with Screen Time permissions there is a bug inhibiting the App Store; which now means we cannot add, update any apps or make any purchases.

Has anyone else experienced this, specific issue and found a work around? I had spoken to an individual with Apple Support and provided a screen capture of the problem actually happening but I have since heard nothing.

This is a major iOS flaw that truly needs priority attention.

Posted this above, but just in case you didn't see it:

"ETA: I found it by turning off content restrictions completely, and then searching the iPad for the app store (swipe down on home screen). It doesn't bring up the app store app, however, it brought up the option to 'search the app store' at the bottom of the list of search results, and when I clicked on that, it opened the app store app; once I exited the app store, its icon was visible on the home screen.

Very annoying."

I’m having this problem too! It started on my iPhone 13 then it started happening on my iPad Pro 11” I got back in 2018 completely new. They’re both the same iOS as you’re having problems with. First it started on my phone and then probably two or three weeks later started doing it on my tablet too. Now the past two days I’ve had to soft reset my phone or safari wont load the page and gives me a black screen or just contentiously loads like it did for FedEx’s tracking page. The only work around for the App Store problem I’ve got to work is by turning off the “content & privacy restrictions” setting as a whole in the screen time settings just long enough to update my apps and/or install a new app but don’t open any apps in case they might charge a hidden purchase. I’m going to try backing up my phone locally to a computer and reset it. Then put my backup back onto it. I’ll come back with my finding for you. I think this bug has to do with iOS 18 coming out and Apple trying to test its server connections seeing as safari and App Store affected at this point. I’m not sure if my WiFi suddenly disconnecting and reconnecting is part of it. My phone is only a year old so it can’t be my phone (good time to get insurance for 10$ as well through Apple).

Having the same problem; can't update old apps or download new apps onto iPad.

Found your post hoping it had been fixed, or that there was a workaround, but apparently there isn't.

I have come back with the solution!!!

I had talked to support and we came to the conclusion to try a complete reset of the affected devices. Sorry for this long message ahead;

Tutorial:

if you use iTunes on a computer to sync music; it’s ideal to backup your affected device to the pc you have authorised for your account to trust using a sync cable (which you’ll unplug before resetting) rather than over WiFi. This may take an hour or two depending on how much information needs to be backed up. Prior, I did a backup to iCloud first just in case.

once your backup is complete then you’ll go to Settings>general>Reset (at the bottom) and you’ll want to erase everything. You’ll then be prompted with the Welcome screen. Skip adding WiFi if you used pc and plug your device back in; connecting it back to iTunes on your pc (if you didn’t use pc then connect to WiFi and follow the on screen steps to restore from backup). It will remove your device from “Find My” so you may want to guard your device while the tutorial steps occur as it won’t be attached to your account until you restore from backup. You shouldn’t loose any photos but you can save them to your pc just in case. Notes shouldn’t disappear either nor app data but you’ll have to re-attach your Wallet cards and readjust accessibility settings as well as sign in with your Apple ID. Having another device attached to your account may be helpful in verifying it’s you. Your apps in the library part will just be out of order. Once your restored backup is complete. Leave it plugged in so music can sync if on pc. Leave plugged in to charge in general while your apps are reinstalled.

now you should be able to “turn off in-app purchases” in settings> screen time> content & privacy restrictions without loosing your App Store.

what had happened was there was a small security data miscommunication. If you’re having problems with Safari loading properly. Check your iCloud backup settings. I realised that Safari needs to backup to iCloud or pages can become unresponsive often and be slow to load. Setting> click your name>icloud> show all> find safari and make sure it’s on.

hopefully this helps !

Same problem no access to App store when parental controls is enabled. had to completely wipe the phone to find out this is what the problem is. 17 versions of IOS to introduce a bug of this scale with no fix still means Apple is hoarding hundreds of billions in profits instead of doing regression testing which indicates Tim C00k truly is a madman. Because if they can't get their sh*t together we going to droids.
