My sister accidently triggered activation lock on her iPad mini.
My sister, who is not technologically savvy, read online that factory resetting her iPad mini would fix problems with it. Unfortunately, the article she read neglected to mention that she needed to disable Find My before performing the factory reset. As a result, she subsequently triggered activation lock. Since I am the technically savvy family member, my sister called me in a panic. She is wondering what she can do to regain access to her iPad mini. I told her that only Apple could remove the activation lock, as I understood it. She would also need to provide proof to Apple that she is the owner of the iPad mini. Unfortunately, my sister has long since thrown away her receipt from the iPad mini purchase.
Am I correct in assuming that my sister's only option at this point is to buy a new iPad mini?
