No, the original factory box is not necessary for trading in Apple devices. However, having the original box can potentially increase the trade-in value or make the process smoother, as it shows that you have taken good care of the device. The essential factors for trading in an Apple device are:

  1. Device Condition: The device should be in good working condition, with minimal damage.
  2. Accessories: Including the original charger, cables, and other accessories can improve the trade-in value.
  3. Data Erasure: Ensure that all personal data is erased, and the device is reset to factory settings.
  4. Unlocking: The device should be unlocked from any carrier restrictions and Apple ID.

If you don't have the original box, you can still trade in your Apple device, but be sure to include any accessories you have and ensure the device is clean and in good condition.

No, they'll hand you a box....

But if you're in India and have android phone, I think it's best to sell it on cashify or any other local retailers.... My trade in experience is not good with apple...

And don't buy from apple website... It's usually 9k more than retail. For example it's 60k on apple website, 52k on reliance and you can get it at 49k at local trusted retailers..... You can avail no cost EMI at reliance digital also...

And the trade in value is usually higher at local retailers, for example my OnePlus Nord is rated at 5k in apple website, but in reliance it's 6k andi. Poorvika mobiles it's 9k andin local retailers it's 9k...
