How to protect my iPhone from getting compromised while using public Wi-Fi?
While travelling and using various wifi networks is there an app or action to protect my iPhone from hacking

An iPhone cannot be remotely hacked through a Wi-Fi network. Tools for hacking an iPhone are extremely expensive, and unless you are a diplomat, high profile journalist, politician, etc... you aren't a relevant target for people with those kinds of very expensive tools and knowledge.
What people do over Wi-Fi is snoop in your internet traffic, to protect against that, a trustworthy VPN is recommended if you plan on doing sensitive tasks like banking, while on a public Wi-Fi.
Otherwise, there should be no issues with using public Wi-Fis normally.
