Typing an email

Thank you for your reply. What EXACTLY do you mean when you say, "Tried restarting the computer?" Does that mean unplugging it, and waiting a few seconds before plugging back in? Does it mean logging out and clicking on "Shut Down?" Does it mean putting it in "Sleep" mode then turning it back on?

Thank you for your reply. Good question...what email program. I haven't a clue. I didn't even know that there were different email programs. Different email programs...meaning what? Can you give any examples? Which Mac...it's a 21.5" screen desktop. OS system is up to date, macOS Monterey Version 12.7.5

Yes, it sort of looks like that, but not exactly. It's not that color, the background is white. Regardless, I'm a technology idiot. Whatever mail program came up when I turned this computer on seven years ago, that's what it is. I wouldn't have a clue as to how to change it. I didn't even know until this conversation that there are other email programs.
