iMacs doesn't need an Anti-Virus Subscription?

When I bought my Mac in 2018, I was sold it alongside Trend Micro. I have now been given the impression that I don’t need to be paying for extra antivirus subscriptions as Mac’s don’t need them. Is this the case.

many thanks in advance.

Actually it didn't need A/V in 2018.

However, Macs can be susceptible to malware which is introduced into a Mac by the user, mostly unintentionally, by clicking on a link in a website or email.

There is one app that is good to have and that's the free version of Malwarebytes. It was developed by a long time contributor to these forums and a highly respected member of the computer security community.

I have it and only run it occasionally when there's a glitch in my iMac's performance to make sure there's not any malware that I have have inadvertently installed.

Mac's do not need any "cleaning", "optimizing", "speed-up", anti-virus or VPN apps.
