Phantom display shown on my M2 Mac

Hello,

I have a problem that I can't solve.

Suddenly, a display is being shown on my Mac (even though none is connected).

It appears as a "Generic Display" with a resolution of 1280x720. I've already tried several tips, such as deleting:

/Library/Preferences/com.apple.windowserver.displays.plist

/Users/sascha/Library/Preferences/ByHost/com.apple.windowserver.displays.****.plist

I tried using BetterDisplay to remove the device, but without success.

I also tried resetting the Mac and restore the Firmware (as shown here How to revive or restore Mac firmware - Apple Support) but that didn't help either.

Even at the startup options screen (when you press and hold the power button/Touch ID button during startup), the display is recognized (I can tell because I can move the mouse off the screen to the left), and the same happens in safe mode when I use the Shift key while selecting the startup disk, as well as in the options screen with the Disk Utility, etc.

Maybe someone else has an advice?

Thanks :-)
