Why does my heart rate decrease on my Apple Watch?

When I watch my heart rate on my Apple Watch it generally consistently decreases. What causes this to happen?

It is possible that when you are looking at the watch you are less active and the heart rate is slowing down in response. Try doing some exercise for a few minutes then afterwards watch the heart rate change as you recover.

Do you take any stimulants in the morning that would increase your heart rate? Caffeine would be one example. Do you take any medication during the day that would thin your blood or acts to decrease your heart rate. Aspirin is a blood thinner, salads, and most fruits and nuts lower heart rate.

Apple Watch doesn’t know what you eat or drink during the day, but does provide a snapshot of your bpm throughout the day. It’s up to you and your doctor to interpret the data.
