Is Rosetta necessary to run Sky Go on MacBook Air?

Bought a new Mac Air specifically to run Sky Go - now I cannot download it as it looks like I need to download "Rosetta" to make the chip compatible (?). I cannot find anyway to download this. Please help as it is for an 86 year IT illiterate granny!!

You don't download Rosetta 2 from the App Store. If you try to do something that requires Rosetta 2 – i.e., running a macOS/Intel application – and you don't already have Rosetta 2 installed, the Mac will ask if you want to install it.
