Hotmail inbox vanished from IPad

From one day to the next, my hotmail inbox disappeared on my iPad (although still operative on PC). I have a number of folders where filtered mail can go so if I’ve set up a filter I’ll receive those emails, but can’t see what has gone to the inbox.

Among suggestions to retrieve it are to delete then reinstall outlook. However, when I go to do this it says “deleting this account will remove its calendars, reminders, contacts and notes from your iPad”. So the question is: why do these get deleted as well? I have a heap of notes I don’t want to lose so am wary of removing the mail account if I have to do this.

Can anyone suggest a solution? (Have rebooted without success). And BTW my other iPad which is sync’d with this one, has NOT lost its inbox (but I prefer using the first iPad).
