Very uneven screen display looks. like a plasma cloud that ain't right

MacBook Pro late 2018 15" has been my trusted workhorse but something weird is happening.

The screen is looking very blotchy and uneven and with a "white page' up there is a really obnoxious yellow blur around the periphery of the screen.

Anyone have any ideas as to what is happening?

As you can see there is no evenness to the screen and yes that grey blob that looks like a cloud in the central part of the screen is part of this issue.

Is this a new screen replacement?

Any thoughts. would be very welcomed thanking you in advance.

Your display is starting to fail. It most likely will get worse over time. display/display assembly/display cable .

if you reef back on the display angle you will most likely accelerate its demise...

You will have to make some informed decision when the time comes if it is a cost effective repair your 2018.

You can use an external display to bypass the issue.

Thank you for you very detailed and helpful reply.

I have been looking at other 2018 mbps on eBay and have found one with remarkably low use and battery cycles albeit just 512mb

this could be a donor for my logic board as mine was top of the range at the time. This would be the most cost effective way to fix it. And I'll have a logic board I can then sell onwards.

It is a shame to trash a perfectly capable laptop.

So your helpful advice has firmed up my decision as the most prudent way forward.

Thank you again!
