My new MacBook Pro M3 charge light stays amber and never turns to green

New MacBook Pro M3 macOS Sonoma 14.5. I use the mac plugged in to the supplied power adaptor and it stays plugged in all the time. Except for a very shot time when I booted the machine for the first time, (several days ago), the charge light stays amber and never turns to green. Battery app says "Battery Is Not Charging" with charge level at 96%. Battery level never goes above 96%. I understand the light will not turn Green until the Battery Charge Level reaches 100%. But the Battery App stops charging at 96%.


Bug or Feature? Catch 22?

hmmm...


I would of charged it first or at least have it plugged in a bit before turning it on out of the factory...just on general principle.


Brand new like one day or two(?) I might watch over several days, before you think you have an issue.

you can try a Safeboot and watch it for a few days for some change...

A SafeBoot Use safe mode on your Mac - Apple Support will sort many anomalies.


no need to Login; reboot as normal.


Does a quick disk repair before it fully boots up, and certain system caches get cleared and rebuilt, third party system modifications and system accelerations are disabled temporarily. Caches get rebuilt automatically.
