Pages export to JPEG loses first character of the domain URL

Running Apple M1 Pro iOS 14.5 (23F79) Pages version 14.1 (7040.0.73). I create a link to text, and also to text in the form of a Url of the form abcd.co.uk. The actual link is https://www.abcd.co.uk Other text is in the form of dates and times.

Exporting to a PDF works as expected.

AND, the text in the JPEG for dates and times actually works as links to Calendar.

BUT the link the text is not recognised as being there.

The link to the URL abcd.co.uk styled as https://www.abcd.co.uk is truncated to bcd.co.uk !?

Previous posts say that URLs cannot be carried across to JPEGs, so am I pushing my luck with an undocumented feature?

I have seen the workaround on YouTube and will try that.

Thanks in advance, John

Thanks for the reply, but there appears to be an undocumented feature which makes it possible to carry a URL link into a JPEG under certain conditions, which I've found, and documented below.

For my examples I happen to be using .co.uk, I’m not going to try it with .com, etc

if your text is eg of the format

abcd.co.uk

or even abcd.co.uk/pqr/xyz

Then you can insert a full link to the text box

But as soon as you add www. or https:/www eg www.abcd.co.uk then  Pages doesn’t recognise the text as a domain. Weirder, if the (empty) text box with the link is not over the text with the URL then when the JPEG is created then the empty text box’s URL now magically appears over the text with the URL. Something to do with flattening layers perhaps?

I can attach a JPEG example if anyone wants to see this effect.
