I'm looking for the best, safe, and simple software to support my elderly dad's Mac remotely with my PC when he has tech problems. Familiar tasks are fine for him, but troubleshooting over the phone is challenging. I need a tool that lets me see his screen and take control of his mouse/keyboard if needed. Any recommendations? Teamviewer should work fine. You can set it up for unassisted access with a password you set. Its also free for non commercial use.

Screen sharing on Macs is limited to devices using the same Apple ID or the same network, which can be inconvenient. Apple Remote Desktop is also great, but it only works on Macs. For a solution that works across different operating systems, you might want to try some free third-party applications like HelpWire or Chrome Remote.
