Apple Pencil 2 will not connect to our new iPad Pro 13 M4

Our Apple Pencil 2 will not connect to our new iPad Pro 13 (M4) despite connecting easily also today to our new iPad Air 5. Have deleted from the iPad Air 5 and have done a restart and a hard restart of our iPad Pro 13 (M4) but it still will not connect to our iPad Pro 13 (M4). Both iPads are running iPasOs 17.5.1.

Any suggestions would be very welcome.

... and that's because the Apple Pencil 2 is not compatible with the new M4 iPad Pro line.
