How to dowload messages from an iPhone for court?

I am a paralegal and have a client that needs to download his text messages to print to pdf and use same at court. Can you do this through iTunes or any other way without using a third-party app? Is there any other free way to do this besides screen shots?

Without a third party app, you're limited to screenshots as razmee209 noted. Is there a reason you don't want to use a third-party application? The one I've used, iMazing isn't free but it's less than $50 as I recall. If this is something your firm is likely to need to do again, it may be well worth the price.

Your client can do a bunch of screenshots, if they're not willing to purchase touch copy or imazing that will do that all for them.
