On wakeup, the external hard drive disconnects, followed by the Magic Mouse and keyboard stop working. I can't do anything but turn off and restart the computer.
I updated to Ventura when this began, then returned to Monterey but the problem persists.
Computer only usable for a few hours until the problem occurs and I have to restart.

After unplugging the external hard-drive for 36 hours I'm happy to say that all's well with my desktop.
I bought a new external hard-drive today, and it's running like a dream.
The external hard-drive is corrupt, which caused the above mentioned issues.

"Specify sleep and wake settings for a Mac desktop computer
> System Settings, then click Energy Saver 
in the sidebar. (You may need to scroll down.)Uncheck put Disk to sleep when possible.

Thank you for your reply. I Have already completed your suggestion a while ago, but the problem still persists.
Today, I disconnected the external hard drive. We'll see how that goes.
