I did a little searching and stumbled across a few forum posts on other sites where this has been discussed. It seems one user discovered the issue is easily reproducible when they press keys or the trackpad as the system is being put to sleep (not sure if it includes to wake the laptop from sleep). From those multiple posts it appears only having the Display Assembly replaced (will also include a Lid Angle Sensor since they are unnecessarily paired) with a hardware repair will be necessary to fix the problem at this time. It is hard to say if a later firmware update could possibly resolve the problem.
