Favourites greyed out on MacBookAir, am running Monterey 12.7.5, and recently started having trouble with Favours greying out, which makes it a tiresome search to find a favourite. I have tried turning the Mac off over night, but only some icons are restored, and if I then clear History again, the Favourites go grey again. I would be grateful for any help, bearing in mind that I am pretty clueless on the tech side of things.
Is this about Finder Favorites, or browser favorites (bookmarks), or yet other favorites from other apps?
For Finder Favorites, could it be that these point to files or apps on a disk that is currently not connected? Or possible documents in a cloud service that is currently not loaded/connected?

Hmm, I don’t think that I’ve ever seen that.
I assume that you have tried quitting and relaunching the browser app? Restarting the Mac? Clearing browser caches? Clearing browser History (optionally with or without clearing website data (cookies))?

Unlikely. I seem to have about …(counting)… 735 bookmark entries (organized in folders) for Safari myself without issue. Do you have much more?
