Magic Mouse and Cinema displays

I'm experiencing the weirdest thing when using Magic Mouse with my MBP and Cinema HD 30" (or a Cinema 23" for that matter). The problem is that the tracking becomes very erratic when the Cinema display is connected to the MBP.

When using the Magic Mouse with the Cinema disconnected the mouse works just fine.
Obviously there's nothing wrong with the Magic Mouse or the bluetooth signal. What could cause this behaviour?

Anyone else experiencing this? Please advice. Thanks.

Same problem with new 27" Cinema Display and MacBook Pro 15" i7 with Magic Mouse.

Intermittently happens - sometimes okay then cursor suddenly stutters and jerks around - then its suddenly can be okay again, then stuttering etc..

I also have a wacom tablet (intous4) and the problem *does not exist* with this device. When the magic mouse starts stuttering I can grab the pen for the tablet and it works fine straight away.

This is very annoying..

I wonder if this will happen with the new MacBook Air... I'm thinking of getting the 13", selling my 15" MBP. There is no doubt this is an Apple issue. Wired mouse, magic mouse, trackpad... all exhibited this behavior. Not happy to hear this is happening with the new 27". It did happen to me less when the lid was open, but still it did happen.

figured i'd chime in on this thread as well as I am looking for a fix for the erratic jumping mouse...

I'm having the exact same problems with the jumping mouse issue. I've tried three different mice. One wireless and I get the same results from all of them. Erratic jumping which is extremely irritating. I've only had my hexacore for a week and it's always performed that way. Dropped the airport and no difference. The only thing that works is getting rid of my second monitor. One is dvi and the other is thru the mini display port. Both monitors 'cause the jumping mouse but when only one of the two is plugged in the mouse is stable. I need a fix for this 'cause I'm an editor and need all the real estate I can get. Anyone know if anything is coming down the pipeline for a fix on this??

thanks

And to add to the insanity....I am trying to play 3 layers of video (two of them text layers - minor mods) in FCP and I get dropped frames. The video is crossfading underneath XCam hd video but with a 3.33hexacore I should have no problem with play back. I have RT set to safe and still get dropped frames. I transferred all files to an internal drive....still get dropped frames....repair permissions and trash prefs....still get dropped frames...only when I disconnect one of my monitors does everything run fine!!!....figure that one out....man this has just been a frustrating week.

shaking my head in disgust....

I think I'm going to get the new MBA, so I'll post back if I have the same issues. For me, it's definitely the external display that is causing the problems. I don't know if it's creating a force-field of sorts, but once it's plugged in, my mice go all erratic, unless I keep my 15" MBP lid open. So I keep my lid open now. But getting ready to sell this one on eBay. If all goes well, I should have a new Air next week.

Well, I got the 13" MBA. I can say that the mouse issues have drastically decreased. Every now and then, it seems when I'm downloading something, or something is loading, the mouse will get sketchy for a few seconds when using my 24", but then it's back normal. Again, happens mostly with the lid closed, like my 15" MBP. But it's not the real problem that it was before, so I guess something changed with my new hardware.

In other news, the new maxed-out 13" MBA is faster than my mid-2009 15" MBP. The solid state storage makes all the difference.

Just to add to the thread - I've got the same problem as most of the above. MacBook Pro 15", BT Magic Trackpad, 23" Cinema display attached, Apple BT keyboard:

- MBP lid open: absolutely no problems

- MBP lid closed: horrible Magic TrackPad response, very jerky, BT keyboard drops connection, and this is with my BT keyboard sitting 1/4" from the front of the MBP and the Magic TrackPad sitting 1/4" from the front right corner of the MBP.

I have exactly your same problem - and same Mac Pro 6 core 3.33! With miniDVI connected, the mouse(s) just jump to corners, top and bottom of the window without any reason at all. I have tried BT Magic, USB Mighty and USB Microsoft Intellimouse. They work fine on my MBP 17". Also, the mouse movements are never smooth and it is like having to wrestle with the mouse all the time. Then while I am clicking somewhere, the pointer moves somewhere else and opens, closes, deletes anything it went over, by its own accord. How can we work like this? It drives me crazy. I had an old G5 and it worked perfectly well. Speed now is immensely increased but the Mac Pro is almost uncontrollable. Unless I unplug one of the two monitors. Not an option for me. I need all the monitoring space I can get, I actually want to go with 3 monitors! Please has anyone some solution? Why do I have to beta test for free a product I have payed €4000? Apple are you there?

I just bought the recently-released 27" LED Cinema Display. It is now hooked to my MacBook Pro 17" (3.06GHz) with a closed lid and operating on Twelve South's BookArc.

I am experiencing the very FREQUENT (every few seconds) jittery/stuttery Magic Mouse behavior as described above.

It is INCREDIBLY frustrating, and disappointing! I spent a lot of money on this setup just to have it not work well >:(

When can this be fixed?? It is disrupting my workflow!

I have reported this to apple.com/feedback. Everyone with this problem should send feedback as well so they can prioritize the fix for this.
