Since returning from out of the country, my iMessage on my iPhone 13 Pro Max does not work correctly

Hi, recently went on a trip out of the country. Had to get a new SIM card there and popped my old Verizon one back in when I got back. Everything works fine except that for some reason in one of my iMessage group chats I can’t type at all. The bubble text box just doesn’t appear but I can see new messages come in. Also seems that I can’t search for any texts that I made prior to the trip using the search box feature. I restarted my phone, I’m on the most current iOS update, even switched iMessage on and off in the settings app. Nothing seems to be helping. Thoughts?
